Welcome to the Tobacco Valley!

Eureka and the surrounding area, known as the Tobacco Valley, are located in North Lincoln County near the Canadian border of Northwest Montana.

Total acreage for the County is 2.4 million. Approximately 1,711,687 acres are owned by United States Forest Service, 66,330 acres are owned by the State and 328,710 acres are owned by large timber and mineral companies. There are only 270,837 acres, or 11%, which are privately owned. This assures that the County will never be overcrowded.

Snowfall in this Valley averages 12-24 inches per season. The adjacent area has some of the best fishing and hunting in the Northwest with numerous lakes and streams.

From Eureka, it is approximately 6 miles to the 90-mile-long Lake Koocanusa, 60 miles to Glacier National Park, 50 miles to Libby Dam, and 7 miles to the Canadian Border.

Lincoln County has all types of outdoor activities such as:

  • Skiing
  • Tennis
  • Golfing
  • Fishing and hunting
  • Swimming, boating and water-skiing
  • Horseback riding
  • Hiking
  • Camping
  • Huckleberry picking

The nearest commercial airport is only 65 miles away in Kalispell and there is a new 4200’ paved strip for private planes and small jets.

Population for the Tobacco Valley is approximately 4,500 and the economic base is the timber and cattle industry which is undergoing a steady metamorphosis toward recreation and a growing retirement area.

The approximate value of other raw land will range from $6,000 to $15,000 per acre depending on the easement quality (roads) and the amount of marketable standing timber, water, utilities, location (i.e USFS proximity, lake front, etc.)
